Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven is located in southern Beijing. It was first constructed in 1420, the 18th year of the reign of Ming emperor Yongle. It is on a compound that has over 500 acres of land, and 600 chambers. I really want to visit someday. Walking across the compound would be amazing. i would buy many souvenirs.

Taj Mahal

  • construction is marble.
  • patron is Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.
  • He erected this mausoleum in the memory of his beloved wife, Arjumand Bano Begum, popularly known as Mumtaz Mahal.
  • He died in AH 1040 (AD 1630)

Taj Mahal is a really cool temple.

Notre Dame

Notre Dame

The cathedral is considered to be one of the best of French Gothic architecture, well known, and largest in the world.
The area the cathedral is in is called Notre Dame. That is how they named the church
I saw Notre Dame all the time when I lived in Paris and I climbed to the top of the cathedral.

Islamic Art

Islamic Art

geometric designs, floral designs and calligraphy are used in Art. The beautiful geometric designs represent infinity, representing infinite faith in God. Human figures are not allowed to be drawn, though some artists did controversially. This is one of my favorite types of art. i prefer it over other religious art. The patterns are more appealing to me.

Ancient Chinese period

China

Chinese painting can be traced back to paintings on Neolithic pottery, such as figures of fish, frogs, deer, birds, flowers, tree leaves and dances,. The earliest Chinese characters were pictographs.  Chinese painting has beautiful qualities. poetry or calligraphy are integrated on paintings. these are from 6000-7000 years ago.
I love the Chinese landscapes and natural representations. The Chinese style is also very appealing.

Gothic period

Gothic

Gothic art began  in France about 1140, spreading to the rest of Europe during the following century. The Gothic Age ended with the advent of the Renaissance in Italy about the beginning of the 15th century, although Gothic art and architecture continued in the rest of Europe through most of the 15th century, and in some regions of northern Europe into the 16th century. Originally the word Gothic was used by Italian Renaissance writers as a derogatory term for all art and architecture of the Middle Ages, which they regarded as comparable to the works of barbarian Goths.

Gothic art is very intricate, and some of the designs on cathedrals seem to be paper thin. I appreciate Gothic art because of the craftsmanship that goes into some of these works.

Middle Ages

Middle Ages

People use the phrase “Middle Ages” to describe Europe between the fall of Rome in 476 CE and the beginning of the Renaissance in the 14th century. The Middle Ages saw a regression in architecture, art and culture.
I like the castles and forts from the Middle Ages, but in terms of art and culture, it is my least favorite time period. The art in this period is pretty primitive compared to other periods.
